Purpose
GA Style II is a special GA addressing a new, conference-wide topic that will be introduced to delegates halfway through GA Session I on Saturday. Delegates will be tested in their ability to collaborate both within their delegation and between other delegations in order to write working papers, debate the matter at hand and vote on the work of the committee, across both GA Session II and III. Delegations will be encouraged to use every member of their delegation effectively to write and debate simultaneously.
Format
GA Style II will begin at the start of GA Session II. The docket will begin empty and the start of committee will call for those wishing to be added to the speaker’s list. Delegations will work together to write working papers, enter them into the docket, debate resolutions and vote on the docket.
Parli Pro
Parliamentary procedure in GA Style II mirrors that of a typical ALTMUN committee (except for SecCo) save for a few limitations and alterations to established procedure. As the session will only be addressing one topic, there will be no need for debate or motions regarding setting the agenda. In order to streamline debate slightly, the dais will only be required to read amendments in full, unfriendly amendments will enter 2 pro / 2 con debate rather than create a new speaker’s list and divisions of the question will be limited to only once per resolution. Lastly, in order to accommodate an increased number of delegates, the chair will recognize up to three points or motions from the floor after recognizing the priority motion of the last speaker. All styles of voice voting will be prohibited.
